Dar Justice investigator Sema Nassar attended a two-day workshop in Damascus titled ‘Transitional Justice in Syria: Opportunities and Challenges’. The workshop was organised by the University of Damascus Faculty of Law and sponsored by the Syrian Forum, Syrian Dialogue Center, and Promediation. Over two days, workshop presenters discussed opportunities and challenges facing the Syrian transitional justice process, incorporating lessons learned from other contexts and citing the roles that various domestic and international actors can play. The workshop was attended by a diverse audience of academics, international agencies, government officials, and civil society representatives and the discussion was rich regarding the available pathways to move forward.
